About our panelists

Bec Sparrow

Over the past 25 years Rebecca Sparrow has been a travel writer, a magazine editor, a newspaper columnist, a TV scriptwriter and a novelist.  She is the author of three best-selling novels The Girl Most Likely, The Year Nick McGowan Came to Stay and Joel and Cat Set The Story Straight (co-authored with Nick Earls). Since 2009 Rebecca has focused on writing non-fiction books for teenage girls to help them navigate those tricky high school years. Those books include Find Your Tribe  (and 9 other things I wish I’d known in high school); Find Your Feet (The 8 things I Wish I’d Known Before I Left High School) and the best-selling Ask Me Anything (heartfelt answers to 65 anonymous questions from teenage girls). Aside from writing books Rebecca writes for Mamamia.com.au, co-hosts the award-winning health and happiness podcast The Well with good friend Robin Bailey and talks to thousands of high school students every year about friendship, resilience, giving back and life online.  Rebecca has written extensively on grief, resilience and post-traumatic growth following the stillbirth of her daughter Georgie in 2010. Rebecca is an ambassador for Givit.org.au, The Pyjama Foundation and  #TeamGirls.  She is also a sherpa to three young children at home.

Robyna May

For most of her life Robyna May tred  a well worn path – study, travel, career, house, husband and babies. When her second born son fell asleep and never woke up her heart broke and her picture perfect life shattered.  Over the past five years, Robyna has picked up the shards and learned a great deal. Through creative healing, writing, speaking and connecting she has emerged softer yet stronger. She is currently writing her first book, centring around surviving the first year of grief.

Suzi O’Shea

Working in the fickle media industry, raising two very young children, overcoming loneliness and severe bouts of depression have built a pretty solid foundation of resilience and a light-hearted approach to life’s challenges. Suzi has persevered through some pretty tough times and come out smiling. A blogger, editor and self-proclaimed trash bag, she talks about how she found herself and overcame tough times.

We’ll drink bubbles, we’ll eat delicious nibbles, and we’ll have a rollicking great time. Join us!
