Champagne Women: Kim-Marie Williams from Kimbalikes

I first met the gorgeous Kim-Marie in Sydney earlier this year but it already feels like I have known her forever. She walked into the hotel I was in and immediately commanded the room. All eyes turned to the cool, quirky, confident chick who was loud and confident and genuinely interested in everyone.

There are loads of fashion blogs out there in webland, but Kimba stands out because she dares to be herself – 100%. I love her for it, and I’m sure you will too. Kimba blogs at the very successful and fabulous Kimbalikes. She is married to a lovely bloke affectionately known as the Welshman, and mum to a gorgeous boy.

Take it away, Kimba…

You have a night off from the kids and unlimited funds: what do you do?

Book a gorgeous hotel in the city, take myself off to buy a new frock from somewhere uber glamorous, get myself professionally glammed up from head to toe, and treat the Welshman to a fabulous evening with the love of his life. That’s me just quietly.

What’s the secret to striking a balance among your life’s competing priorities?

Aha! The Holy Grail for working mothers. I’d like to say the answer is strict time management and that I’m successful at being an efficient compartmentalised blogger, personal stylist, wife and mother.

My plan is to blog during school hours a few days a week, with a day or two to attend client meetings and events, and slot in domestic goddessry (groceries, laundry et al) where required. Allowing me to supervise homework and be there for my son before and after school, and have dinner and conversation with my husband in the evening.

Unfortunately, life doesn’t work out quite as smoothly as that! The secret to striking a balance is to either choose one role to be brilliant at and muddle through the others. Or just be a bit shit at everything – with occasional flashes of brilliance!

If you find the secret, do me a favour and let me know?

Please?

Do you have a favourite memory involving champagne?

The Welshman proposed to me in Tasmania and we celebrated with a bottle of Moorilla Estate champagne. We ordered in some cases and served the same champagne at our wedding. For our first family Christmas with Boyo in tow, we stayed in a gorgeous villa at Moorilla Estate – and drank more champagne, obvs!
