6 iPhone apps I love

I’m a selfish sort of human, so this post may look like I’m helping you out by sharing the iPhone apps I love. (Slight hyperbole, obviously, there are few things I actually can’t live without, and this is limited to food, shelter, the love of a good man, wine, and QI.) But the reality is I am a little bit obsessed with apps and I am easily bored, so we’re going a quid pro quo here, Clarice. I’ll show you mine, then you show me yours. Ew, not like that. Pants on, soldier.

I’m going to skip the insultingly obvious and assume you know I can’t live without Facebook, Instagram, WordPress, Pinterest, Twitter, Google Plus, Pages and Hootsuite. And I’m also going to say that, yes, these are apps for iPhone. I will also say I’m afraid I don’t know which are available on android, but that’s what you get for going against the herd. Perhaps you should have thought about this when you made your purchase decision based on functionality or which phone had the very cool 3000 megapixel camera.

For those obedient iPhone wilderbeest, such as myself, my current must-haves are:

Track My Spend – helps me track my spend (duh!) so I can stop haemorrhaging money. And it’s from the Australian Securities and Investment Commission (ASIC) so it’s totes legit. You can:
• set a spending limit
• track spending by categories
• separate needs and wants (murky, for real) to help identify opportunities to save money.

Little Moments by Fat Mum Slim (pictured above) – every blogger’s new favourite photo app. You can edit images, add gorgeous styled embellishments and then load images straight to your social media. This has been a long time in development and a labour of love for Fat Mum Slim and it shows. You can also use it to enter Fat Mum Slim’s Photo a Day competition. Fun!

Runkeeper – maps my runs and tells me how far I’ve gone, what my pace was, and tracks my general progress. Sometimes it gives me lame encouragement such as “Congratulations, that was your fastest run this week!” when I’ve only run once this week. But hey, it’s better than telling me I’m a lazy fatso who needs to move more. Oh, and you can follow your friends on here and like and comment on their runs, cycles, walks, swims, etc. If you’re on there, add me (just search: Carolyn Tate).

Fitsnap – vanity project where you can take pics of yourself and display your fitness achievements to share on social media so everyone knows how awesome you are. I use this a lot because I’m a smug, self-satisfied arsehole. And perhaps – just perhaps – this was just another opportunity to mention that I recently ran a half marathon (see below), and am about to run another one this weekend. Perhaps.

ABC iView – so that I can always watch an episode of QI or Time of Our Lives when trapped under a grumpy sleeping toddler. I would pay for this shit, but Andrew Bolt’s taxes mean I don’t have to. And neither do you.

Gratitude – Every night, I sit down and list five things I’m grateful for from that day, and add a photo, and I am magically transformed into a delightful, grounded and balanced wife and mother who bakes apple pies and sings show tunes at breakfast. Okay, I do it probably once every three days, and Husby assures me that when I do, I am less of a bitch.

Okay, so now I’ve showed you mine. What’s your current favourite app?
